Walking in Truth

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” 3 John 1:4

It has been an absolute pleasure as a parent to see my youngest son study his bible and researching the truth, so that he can lead his friends to Christ.  In a world where the truth has become so distorted or twisted, he has a zeal to be in the word of God.  And we know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.  In John 1 he states that In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. It is an answered prayer to see my son seeking the truth in Christ Jesus.  His devotion has caused me a time of self awareness.  Am I walking in truth and in His word?  In a world that is ready to stomp out Jesus in so many social and political outlets, am I standing for the truth? Am I fixing my eyes on what is true, honorable, and right?  Paul encourages God’s children  in Ephesians 6  to put on the armor of God to fight this battle with satan and the evil in the world.  God gave us the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, shoes of the gospel of peace, pick up your shield of faith, so now we take up our sword of the spirit and stand for Jesus Christ!  We are not alone in this battle, but we must be ready and diligently studying the word of God.

Dear God, Forgive me for not being as devoted to Your word as I need to be.  Thank you for giving our youth a zeal to know You and Your word.  Guide us in Your truth so that others will want to come to know You as Lord and Savior of their lives.  Amen.
