I remember the times as a small girl going outside to a big, flat stump and feeling so free to dance and worship across the top of the stump. Singing my made up songs at the top of my lungs. I’m sure the little lady next door probably got a good laugh. I didn’t care what anyone said and didn’t give any thought to anyone watching. I just wanted to be in His presence. Raising my hands, singing, and dancing with Jesus. I felt such freedom and power raining down on me. Today in my busy life I crave these innocent, but powerful moments. Why is it so hard for adults to let free and just be in worship with God? We get so busy with work, children, spouses, and redundant everyday routines. We forget how much we need to be in God’s presence. God longs for us to be like that child with lifted hands, shouting His praises. Dancing in the midst of life with Him. How can we truly seek God with all our hearts, if we do not get in His presence?
Jeremiah 29:11-14 says that God knows the thoughts He has toward us. Thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give us a future and a hope. He said to call up on Him, pray to Him, and He will listen. He wants us to seek Him with all our hearts. He promises that when we seek Him we will be found by Him and He will deliver us from captivity. This captivity could be anxiety, depression, oppression, or just being overwhelmed by the demands of the world around us. The freedom that comes from God’s deliverance is something we should not take lightly. This freedom unleashes a power and strength that God gives His children. It causes us to walk with our heads lifted high knowing that our battles belong to Him. Thank goodness we have a gracious Father that wants to be in our ever present lives. He wants us to seek Him, spend time in His word with Him, and to walk hand in hand with Him all the days of our lives. To dance with Him in the midst of the rain.
Dear Lord, As I enter into Your presence today, I pause everything else around me and just simply come to You and seek You. I want to be found by You. Just like that child with hands lifted high singing, dancing, and praising Your name. I crave to be in Your presence, trusting that You know the plans for my life and that I can live in freedom and know You are God. My God. Thank you. Amen.
