God’s Presence

I remember the times as a small girl going outside to a big, flat stump and feeling so free to dance and worship across the top of the stump.  It’s like I didn’t know any better.  I just wanted to be in His presence. Raising my hands and singing to the sky.  I felt such freedom and power raining down on me.  Today in my busy life I crave for these innocent, but powerful moments.  Why is it so hard for adults to let free and just be in His presence?  We get so busy with work, children, spouses, and redundant everyday routines.  We forget how much we need to be in His presence.  God longs for us to be like that child with lifted hands, shouting His praises.   How can we truly seek God with all our hearts, if we do not get in His presence?

Jeremiah 29:11-14 says that God knows the thoughts He has toward us.  Thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give us a future and a hope.  He said to call up on Him, pray to Him, and He will listen.  He wants us to seek Him with all our hearts.  He promises that when we seek Him we will be found by Him and He will deliver us from captivity.  This captivity could be anxiety, depression, oppression, or just being overwhelmed from the demands of the world around us.

Dear Lord, As I enter into Your presence today,  I pause everything else around me and just simply come to You and seek You.  I want to be found by You.  Just like that child with hands lifted high singing and praising Your name.  I crave to be in Your presence, trusting that You know the plans for my life and that I can just be still and know You are God.  My God.  Thank you.  Amen.
